There are simply far too many potential diet plans out there. The sheer volume of diet options is ridiculously overwhelming.

For this reason, as soon as you’ve committed to a diet, and prepping healthy meals is the next step, you only want to seek out food and drink recipes that fit within that particular diet plan. Straying from your original chosen plan may very well lead to failure. It may just have you returning to square one.

Building up a diet-focused recipe library on your computer is a great idea, for this very reason. So if you’re going low-carb, then build up a low-carb recipe library.

It’s basic, but hugely important.

I only bring this up because I’ve been guilty of hopping from one plan to the next myself. And I’ve done so for one simply reason…

On low-calorie, you crave calories. On low-sugar, you crave sweets. It’s always super tempting to dabble. They say it’s healthy, after all. So it should be okay, right? And let’s not BS ourselves. Food-based videos can be ridiculously hard to resist. 😉

But the thing is, for any diet plan to work effectively, you really need to stick to it. Calorie reduction and fresh, healthy foods and drinks are said to be the most surefire way to lose weight healthfully.

I can certainly see the merit in that, even though I’m no diet or fitness guru. The fat should come right off if you control what and how much you eat and drink. Raising your activity levels will also prove beneficial (obviously).

It’s common weight loss advice. And it probably has that designation for a reason!

Of course, not all diet plans follow this model. And even if they don’t, you may want to stick with them anyway. Many diets put more of an emphasis on macro-nutrient ratios. And it’s generally not advised to mess around with those, if you’re trying to maximize your weight loss.

Stick to the plan. Give yourself a fighting chance!

► THAI TURKEY LETTUCE WRAPS:
1 1/2 lbs (680g) ground turkey
1/4 cup (65g) peanut butter (or almond butter)
1/4 cup (60 mL) chicken stock
2 Tbsp soy sauce
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp sesame oil
2 tsp chili paste
pinch of cayenne, optional
1/4 cup (40g) peanuts
1/2 cup (15g) cilantro, chopped
4 bibb lettuce leaves as wraps

1. Whisk everything together (except cilantro, peanuts, bibb lettuce, and turkey) for the sauce.
2. In a saucepan over medium-high heat, add turkey and cook through. When cooked, add sauce mixture and simmer over low heat for 15 minutes, until liquid is mostly reduced and sauce has thickened.
3. Stir in cilantro and peanuts and remove from heat.
4. Store, or serve with lettuce wraps. Garnish with chives and cilantro.

► BUFFALO CHICKEN CELERY:
1 cup chicken, cooked and shredded (can use breast, but don’t be afraid to use legs or thighs too!)
2-3 Tbsp buffalo wing sauce
2-3 green onions, chopped
salt & pepper, to taste

1. Mix everything together. Season to taste.
2. Add to celery sticks.
3. Serve & enjoy!
