There are like a million and one diet plans available to you these days. Choosing one diet over another can be a daunting task.
For this reason, once a particular diet has been chosen, and it’s time to start prepping weight loss meals, you want to avoid looking outside of your chosen diet for meal options. Failure to stay on your chosen path can prove detrimental. It will take you back to square one.
Building up a diet-focused recipe library on your computer is a great idea, for this very reason. So if you’re going low-carb, then build up a low-carb recipe library.
Know what I mean?
I only bring this up because I’ve been guilty of hopping from one plan to the next myself. And there’s really only one reason why…
On a low-calorie diet, you tend to crave calorie-rich foods. On low-fat, you crave fat. I mean, it’s still officially “diet food,” even if it’s not your diet… right? If the person on the screen tells you it’s healthy, you should probably eat it, yeah? And let’s not lie to ourselves. Meal prep videos can be pretty damned will-shattering. 😉
But the thing is, for any diet plan to work effectively, you really need to stick to it. Of course, it could be said that any diet that focuses on all-natural foods and reasonable portion sizes can be enough all on its own.
At the end of the day, it makes sense. Eat clean, don’t stuff your face all the time, and the fat should come right off. This is especially true if our activity levels are relatively high.
You’ll probably recognize this as conventional weight loss advice. As well it should be!
Not all diets are calorically restrictive though. Diets are often effective because of their macro-nutrient ratios. And you may not want to play around with those.
Keep your eye on the prize! Don’t stray.
