There are obviously many diet plans in the world. If you’re like me, you’re probably overwhelmed by all of the options.
Therefore, when you’ve committed to a diet, and it’s time to start prepping weight loss meals, it’s important that you stay committed to your plan. Straying from your original chosen plan may very well lead to failure. It may just bring you back to the very beginning.
This is why you definitely want to compile a small library of recipes that fit within your particular diet plan. If you’re going low-calorie, then compile low-calorie recipes. If you’re a low-carber, then you’ll want low-carb recipes.
Pretty basic stuff, right? But it’s super important.
Hopping from one diet to the next is certainly something that I’ve done in the past. And when I really think about it, there’s only one reason why…
You typically tend to have cravings for those foods that your chosen plan won’t allow you to consume, which an entirely different protocol allows, and perhaps even encourages. I mean, it’s still officially “diet food,” even if it’s not your diet… right? And counter-arguments can be pretty compelling. And let’s not kid ourselves. Recipe videos are, in many cases, pretty darn hard to resist. 😉
Clearly, you need to stick to your chosen diet plan long enough to see results. Reaching your weight loss goals may be as simple as eating natural foods and limiting your caloric intake.
Seems pretty logical, really. Control the calorie intake, eat clean, and the fat should come right off. This becomes even more powerful as you raise your activity levels.
This is surely standard, conventional advice. And it probably has that designation for a reason!
Not all diets are calorically restrictive though. With some diets, macro-nutrient ratios are more important than calories consumed. And you may not want to play around with those.
Please stay the course. Your future self will thank you for it!
