The turkey meatballs are loaded with flavor and are really low fat, and the quinoa with blacks beans is a healthy take on rice and beans, perfect for meal prepping.

Here’s the story…

There are like a million and one diet plans available to you these days. If you’re like me, you’re probably overwhelmed by all of the options.

I believe that as soon as you’ve made your choice, and you’re looking to prepare your own tasty meals, you want to avoid looking outside of your chosen diet for meal options. Straying from your original chosen plan may very well lead to failure. It’ll probably have you returning to the starting line.

You’d be well served, for this very reason, to build up an online library of recipes within your chosen plan. So if you’re going low-carb, then build up a low-carb recipe library.

The importance of this cannot be overstated.

I only bring this up because I’ve been guilty of hopping from one plan to the next myself. The reason for this is actually quite simple…

On low-calorie, you crave calories. On sugar-restriction, you crave sweets. I mean, it’s still officially “diet food,” even if it’s not your diet… right? And let’s not kid ourselves. Food videos are, in many cases, 100% seductive. 😉

Sticking to the plan long-term is perhaps the most important component of dieting. At the end of the day, eating healthy foods and not going into a crazy caloric surplus may be enough to help you reach your goals.

Seems like pretty responsible advice. The fat should come right off if you control what and how much you eat and drink. Oh, and move that body of yours a little more! 😉

This, of course, is the world’s most popular weight loss advice. There’s probably good reason for this!

Calorie reduction isn’t the only game in town though. With some diets, macro-nutrient ratios are more important than calories consumed. These are often pretty meticulously calculated, and straying from the prescribed ratio may jeopardize your results.

Give your chosen diet plan enough time to work for you. Then, if it doesn’t, at least you won’t have yourself to blame!

For the meatballs:

2 pounds ground turkey thigh

1.5 teaspoons each ancho chile powder & cumin

¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

½ teaspoon dried thyme

2 tablespoons raisins

2 tablespoons pepita seeds, roughly chopped

1 tablespoon fresh cilantro or parsley, chopped

Kosher salt

Fresh black pepper

Grapeseed or avocado oil

For the quinoa & beans:

3 cups cooked quinoa

1 onion, chopped

3 cloves garlic

15.5 ounce can of black beans

½ teaspoon each ancho chile powder & cumin

1 lime

1 tablespoon fresh cilantro or parsley, chopped

1 tablespoon chopped walnuts

Kosher salt

Fresh black pepper

Grapeseed or avocado oil

12 ounces shishito peppers
